Date of review: 10/13/22. Date of purchase: 07/13/22. I'm using this fan to blow on a crypto currency USB mining stick. It has been running continuously for over three months now without any problem. It is keeping my mining stick cool. The amount of air flow coming off this tiny little fan is pretty impressive, for its size. Although I haven't tried, I bet this would blow a nice breeze on my face while plugged into my laptop. I'm tempted to buy another just for that purpose!I got this for long days outdoors in the spectator stands. It's nice and quiet, so it doesn't disturb anybody. I provides a slight breeze -- just enough to keep the air moving. It does not move a high volume of air, but it works for me.bought this when my A/C was acting up. Super quiet! ended up plugging it into the usb port on my wifi-6 router to help it keep its cool. Made a huge difference in stability. There is some limitation in how flexible it is, but will generally hold its position once shaped. No batteries, all usb powered. Should be able to use it with anything having a usb port. Not noisy but very powerful. I use these mainly for my monitor (I place it behind the monitor), and for my modem/router. Keep the room cool!I had a small pocket fan that I used all the time when eating out. It was cube-shaped and had a rechargeable battery that could also charge a phone or other device. A few days ago the charging circuit malfunctioned, so it couldn't charge and needed to be replaced. I always bring my old laptop to work on my writing, so a USB-powered fan seemed to be the answer considering I've already got another rechargeable battery pack (see picture). The reason I chose this one: My main concern was finding one that had multiple speeds. If you get a fan that does NOT have multiple speeds then the fan is directly connected to the USB source. There's a real danger in that because the fan would then draw as many amps from the source as the source and or fan is capable of. Reviews from others show pictures of the fan's plastic melting and the motor burned out of those types of fans (not this one). The fan gets too hot and the motor burns up because of too many amps due to it not being regulated. That's why I wanted a well-designed fan that has multiple speeds, such as this one. Multiple speeds meant internal resistance which means the unit will only draw what it needs from the power source, not all the amps that the power source is capable of producing. This fan has a variable resistor fan control based on a 5v source. And being USB means it can be plugged into any USB from 2.0 -3.1 and up. In the picture, I've got it plugged into my power pack. The pack is 5v with two 3.0 USBs and one USB C. All ports capable of up to 3 amps. I received it just after lunch and the picture was taken hours later and still running fine.As you can see in the picture (hopefully) is that the fan on full uses 2.1 amps at 5v. At full speed, the fan produces plenty of air for when I need to use it at a restaurant when plugged into my laptop or the power pack. The USB plug itself has a slight curve in it and with closer inspection, I found that it is designed that way. It wasn't damaged in shipping, it was designed that way. Why I don't know, but a nice feature. The placement adjustment is done via the metal neck that seems to be very well made and sturdy. The neck can both tilt and turn, so you can move into practically any position. The silver part of the small cylinder underneath is the variable speed control which houses the variable resistor. It feels really smooth and not wobbly or cheaply made in any way. The same goes for the fan itself. The housing, while plastic, doesn't feel thin, but thick enough to withstand a certain amount of punishment. It was really nice for Arctic to include a pouch, which also isn't thin or cheaply made either. In my opinion, this fan is well made. And will be protected in its pouch while inside my soft laptop bag when being carried around. I cannot speak of its longevity yet and will post an update about one month after use.I took this with me on a 10 day trip to Africa to keep cool while sleeping at night. It worked beautifully and only drained my power bank by about 10% each night.I grabbed the IKEA Ekey storage system, which my Series S fits nicely into. The only problem? Poor airflow! The Xbox can get pretty warm, which can be felt on the surface of the organizer. You can actually stick your hand in the cube and feel the warm air just hanging out.To prevent any overheating issues, or warp to the organizer over time, I grabbed this fan to blow out the warm air.It was the perfect solution! It acts as a mini air circulator for the compartment, and can be adjusted to any angle which is nice. Even when the Xbox is off the fan stays on, but I noticed the motor doesn't get too warm which is great. The only downside is, since its always on, you will quickly learn why fans have covers ?Even when it catches your hand, it doesn't hurt too much lol - I recommend just pinching the back with your index and the front with your thumb, which will bring it to a stop sans injuries.Sometimes I plug it into my rounded power bank and use it as a handheld fan, which is fun lolBought for my desk at work and it’s perfect! Super easy, just plug and go. Gentle breeze, but exactly what I needed.I bought two of these. One for me and one for my partner to be used in our respective laptops while working. I wasn't expecting much but as desk space is a premium in this house these seemed like an obvious solution. The good: Hardly any power consumption on the laptops, didn't affect the battery life at all really that I could tell. I'm sure it does, obviously. But it seems to draw very little power indeed. The fan is definitely sturdy and well made, the bendy part is nice and strong and doesn't just fall over after 5 minutes. They make hardly any noise at all. Quite remarkable actually. Certainly no louder than the laptop's internal gubbins anyway. The Bad: They just simply aren't powerful enough. I could feel a slight breeze but that's all. Nowhere near strong enough to actually cool you down.So there you go. Quite how this has received so many positive reviews is beyond me, frankly. At first I thought maybe I had a faulty one but since I bought two and they are both equally weak, I'm left with no choice other than to say these aren't fit for purpose.Lesson learned. I'm going to buy a side table and a proper desk fan instead. This fan is everything that I wanted and more.I have to sleep with one of those big oscillating fans on 3 to sleep comfortably and my girlfriend hates it. She hates having to sleep in my bedroom because I want my beautiful fan blasting cool air on my face all night long. She did not appreciate my driving over to her house and bringing my lovely massive fan with me every time and I decided that I would compromise! I had read about these USB fans. I saw one of them in a major stationary chain and thought "oooooh, I don't want it to be encaged in a little box where I can't angle it... I WANT MASSIVE FREEDOM!"THIS FAN IS MASSIVE FREEDOM. Though the length of the neck might not seem much, it is perfectly adequate to get the giant angle which you need. As I lie here on my front on the couch, this majestic creation is aimed directly at my face at a beautiful jaunty angle. I am as cool as a cucumber. I have repeatedly tried putting my fingers in the way of it to slow it down and it hasn't seen any signs of breaking or stopping.I haven't seen any signs of it draining any major battery power from my 2011 Macbook Pro either. It just hangs out, being a portable, convenient, beautiful, gentle breeze which is as quiet as a ghost's whisper.EDIT: I discovered that I can plug this into a one of those external battery power banks that are all the crazy lately and it works all night long. It now sits on the window sill at my girlfriend's beside her bed where it blasts elegantly over my slumbering head. It's the best.Love this little fan! It's effectively a computer cooling fan, but on a flexible USB stalk, which is a genius idea - computer fans are made to be on for hours or even days at a time without trouble, and they have developed over the last decade to not only be very effective at cooling but also really quiet, and that noise level is the absolute best thing about this.Your traditional travel fan sounds like a swarm of angry wasps and skids around the table like an ant. They also tend to have the effectiveness of a drunk daddy long legs trying to blow over a lorry. Not so here. It's perfectly quiet enough to sleep with, has very little vibration, and although it doesn't deliver a hurricane, it does provide a good steady breeze that you can feel from at least 4ft away. The goose neck is great for directing it in exactly where you need it - up, down, diagonally, whatever. I had it connected to a USB power bank on a shelf above the bed and could easily bend it around the edge of the shelf and direct it down on to me.The design is robust. The blades are solid and have a good balanced weight and the motor and rotation is very smooth. The goose neck is the only downside. It is stiff and solid, which is good, but it does stick out a good way from the fan making the whole thing quite long and difficult to pack. It'd be better if you could wrap or coil the neck around the fan in some way so it was more compact. I also feel that the neck is going to be the weakest part, so pack it carefully. My only other (very minor) gripe is that there is no switch to turn it off - you just have to unplug it. A simple on/off switch on the back of the motor, or even better some kind of variable speed controller on the USB plug would really help. For some people, having it USB powered without it's own battery might be a problem, but for me I appreciated that I could plug it in to my power bank and not have to worry about buying batteries etc. The other advantage is that you can use different sizes of power bank and it'll run for longer, or plug it into a laptop or USB wall plug and it'll run indefinitely. I used a 5200mAh power bank and it ran pretty much the whole night - at least 6 hrs. In fact I woke up at 4am and had to turn it off because I was cold!Overall I LOVE this fan. It is soooo much better than any travel fan I've ever seen or used before. It is robust, versatile and very quiet. All that for £8!! My girlfriend loved it so much she stole it and I had to buy a second one!Pair it with a good quality USB power bank (such as https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P8SY7HQ) and it'll make trips to warmer climates much more pleasant all round. War es hilfreich dann klicke auf Nützlich, das ist wie ein DankeschönAs part of my homelab I have a Raspberry Pi 4 running mainly my home automation + some other services, but it can get pretty busy and hot. Originally I used a full metal body with space for 2 fans on it. The tiny cheap 20mm fans were surprisingly noisy and kept breaking about every month. The cheap replacement ones I used lasted about as much.Once I ran out I just left it without the little fans, and noticed the temperature barely climbed up 5 degrees on average. Afterwards replaced with full metal body with no fans.Seen this by chance and thought, hey this could work better. Plugged this to a RPi3 sitting next to the RPi4, positioned the fan slightly askew so that the air flow hits the RPi4 and NUC next to it (which lowered the NUC temp by about 5 degrees as well)The results are far better than I expected. Where the metal was hot to the touch before now it is cold, and the average temperature of the little server dropped by respectable 14 degrees. See screenshot. For niche applications like this it does it's job fantastic!
